Client: Texas Nanotechnology Initiative (Richardson, TX).
Need: A grassroots organization, the TNI aims to coordinate Texas nanotechnology so that the state can emerge as a national center for nanotech research and business development. It's a challenging goal in a state plagued by geographic and economic differences. Yet to compete with other regions interested in nanotechnology, Texas must be able to articulate and sell its strengths -- and begin to address its weaknesses.
Solution: Deborah Ausman was commissioned to develop a robust position paper on nanotechnology in Texas. Deborah suggested that to have an impact, the document must offer objectives -- ways that Texas's strengths could be leveraged to achieve economic advantage. The resulting 30-page position document summarizes the state of nanotechnology in Texas, serving to
- Provide talking points to the state's nanotechnology participants
- Offer specific actions to influence legislative agendas nationally and statewide
- Promote Texas nanotechnology among business and investor groups
- Increase the TNI's visibility as a driver of nanotechnology development
