Publication: Spotfire News, an online customer newsletter.

Client: Spotfire, Inc. (Boston, MA), a leading provider of eAnalytic applications that speed the discovery, development, manufacturing, and marketing of products across the extended enterprise.

Publication's Objective: Spotfire launched its online customer newsletter in 2001 to support the release of Spotfire DecisionSite, a Web-based analysis environment tailored for a variety of industries. The newsletter's mission was to demonstrate Spotfire's activities across its large and diverse customer base and provide an informal yet professional source for product information and corporate messages. The Web was chosen for delivery to reflect Spotfire's innovative and exciting corporate image.

The first two issues of Spotfire News included the following regular columns:
  • "On the Spot" feature stories by key executives and managers that put the DecisionSite releases in context
  • Product Updates highlighting new product releases and directing readers to appropriate resources at spotfire.com for more information
  • Ask the Developer FAQs addressing key questions associated with the products discussed in each issue
  • Employee "Spotlights" profiling Spotfire employees
  • Partner News and other news highlights intended to drive readers to other portions of spotfire.com for more information
Principia's Role: Deborah Ausman consulted on plans and editorial content for the initial launch of the newsletter and wrote all the content for the first two issues as assigned by Spotfire's director of marketing communications.
